Should we also consider some guidelines, sarcasm and bad jokes allowed but no…. I was going to say character assassination but given this is an authors site that could be interpreted wrong.
Nothing vicious to living humans and perhaps avoid contentious non book related subjects such as politics?May 9, 2018 at 3:21 pm #493
Sounds like some fair guidelinesMay 9, 2018 at 3:26 pm #494
Yes Norbert you’ve already hit on the problems – no notification of replies and the fact that each Innkeeper installment gets over 1,000 comments now …
Maybe we can just keep commenting on each Innkeeper installment and when we find ourselves going ‘off topic’ we can come here and start a new thread / topic …
e.g. ‘blowing things up’
or other suggestions as per Ruth, Sally and KC …
Sorry Sally – yes a thread is a topic 😊May 9, 2018 at 3:28 pm #495
Maybe a topic for each book and for each signing event.
Book recommendations and other literary ideas.
Some crafting but there are good general venues for that so should relate to the books somehow or Ilona.
Things that go book or cut or military.May 9, 2018 at 3:31 pm #496
I think autocorrupt got me. Things that go boom.
But usually if a topic doesn’t resonate with the group it will just go silent.May 9, 2018 at 3:32 pm #497
Joan, I agree with you. We are the Book Devouring Horde – means we are civilized enough to handle this.
We even try to understand trolls…May 9, 2018 at 3:39 pm #498
I agree Sally and Sivi. The fastest way to cause offence and dissention is to talk about politics or religion – so they should be avoided in general.
But I love the Innkeeper comments because, even though we’re all strangers to each other, we’re all so respectful and supportive of each other and the ALs anyway and I can’t remember any time that I got upset or angry at anything being said.
I feel among friends 😊May 9, 2018 at 3:39 pm #499
Book recommendations seems to be one everyone agrees on Perhaps we should set this topic up then when it comes up in the chapter comments just direct that offshute to the kitchen
Paranoid me would be a bit wary of having a Things that go boom or cut or military as a separate heading. Its one thing to discuss it related to books or as part of chat but to focus on it as a subject of its own in this day and age could attract unwelcome attention from both sides of the law.May 9, 2018 at 3:42 pm #500
Wow we’re so civilised we’re sickening 😂😉May 9, 2018 at 3:46 pm #501
Yes you’re right too Sally – I didn’t even think about ‘big brother’ or ‘radicals’.
We enjoy ALs fight scenes and our own chats and comments but to the non BDH we can sound quite blood thirsty 😇May 9, 2018 at 3:50 pm #502
I’m not sure we are that civilised we just have not found an issue that sets us off yet.
I’ve got no problems with trolls I’ve always felt a certain kin ship you know, set apart, lives alone, likes bridge building I think they have a bad rep … oh wait did you mean internet trolls, I think the name may be a misnomer they’re a sub set of the human species, homo complain-a-loticus.May 9, 2018 at 3:51 pm #503

KC I was just laughing at Sally’s definition of Internet trolls:
“they’re a sub set of the human species, homo complain-a-loticus”
And I thought that’s what made you laugh too until I clicked on your link – Maud’s Coffee
Hehehe …May 9, 2018 at 4:08 pm #506
